book page vase

This is a project I completed a LONG time ago- but haven't posted yet. I found this idea on the Sweet Paul blog. This project is so very easy... but quite time consuming! You can find instructions on his page. I had a few books that I purchased from the dollar store specifically for this. Each turned out well, and were given as presents! If you've been over, you know how much I love knick knacks - & this little vase fits in quite nicely!

betsy on ETSY

FINALLY, first etsy item(s) up. Totally a test run- just trying to get a feel for it. I'm not sure exactly how I want to market betsy afternoon ... or what direction I'm going to take it! All I know is that I love creating! And I want to share it with someone, anyone, YOU!!

I just put up a few pictures of flowers I've posted on the betsy afternoon blog.  The link to my etsy shop is to the left ---->

It may evolve in the next few weeks.... we'll see!

anemone

I love this picture of the anemone flowers. I shaded one petal on one of the flowers. Did you notice? Also, I created a little bumble bee! He is so cute!! I've placed this little vase on a bookshelf in front of some family pictures.

daffodil

I'm sooo  happy with my daffodils. I wasn't excited about working on this flower- which is probably why I ended up so pleasantly surprised!! Here I have the daffodils displayed on a sparkly elephant statue. I give this photo a lovely!

some pretty flowers

Well, I haven't blogged in a while... I've been working on the beaded flowers at least once a week, and I've completed poppies, tulips, irises, and daffodils. (Daffodil pics to come!) Here are a few pictures of a bouquet I'm working on. What do you think?

beaded poppy

Ok, so I'm 2/3 of the way thru the french flower beading class. This week we put the petals together. They're really beautiful!! The photos don't really do them justice... they reflect the light from the flash.

I have a few ideas for them: brooches, napkin rings, and of course just pretty flowers in a vase.
The teacher is going to offer more classes incoporating more flowers. I think I'll sign up. Oh, I told the teacher how much I liked crafting and she responded with, "This is art not a craft!" I guess that makes me an artist!

Show you the final product next week!

snow in Texas

We got 12" of snow yesterday!! I don't know if I've ever seen this much! Here's a beautiful picture of the tree outside...

french flower beading

I'm taking a class on french flower beading. Our assignment for this week was to complete 5 small and 5 large petals. Each petal is a combination of two colors. I am really enjoying this class!! I came home and made 10 of each + 5 small and 5 large petals using the inverse colors!! Maybe a little over kill... but I want to put together a bunch of flowers in class this week!!

stuffed sea creatures, part 2

OK, so putting these together has been a little bit more taxing than I expected. The whale pattern I drew turned out well. The jelly fish pattern was WAY too difficult for me; I'm still a novice with the sewing machine!! I'm going to give the crab a try a little later this week.

Oh, and here's my favorite part... My LABEL!!!

What do you think?

suffed sea creatures

Starting on a new project. My baby nephew Isaac's bedroom has an aquarium theme, and so I'm working on stuffed animals for him.  My friend Tricia just had a baby last week. I'll make  a few extra for her little boy, too.

Here are the plans & fabric choices:

jelly fish

crab

whale

I'm going to be working on these this week. I think they'll turn out really well. Post by Saturday!!
